Frank and Mary Bogart were newlyweds living in Honolulu when the Japanese planes
attacked Pearl Harbor on that clear December 7, 1941 morning. Frank was aboard his ship,
the USS Gamble, an old four-stack destroyer minelayer. Although only a lieutenant j.g.,
Frank was the senior officer on duty. Making the decision to get underway to help
shield the battleships from enemy submarine attack, he conned the Gamble
out of the harbor while enemy bombs and fighters swooped around the little ship.
Mary, at home, awoke to hear the roar of enemy planes and explosions all around her.
Her first thought was that Frank wouldn't be home for lunch. Little did she know
that it would be weeks before the two would see each other again
and years before they would be permanently reunited.
Till War Do Us Part is their stories, told by both of them in alternate chapters.
Frank's wartime duty took him to Pago Pago, Midway, Guadalcanal, Espiritu Santo, New Caledonia, Okinawa,
and Japan. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for action aboard the USS Gwin at Okinawa.

"Told with restraint and honesty, and augmented with photographs and a great cover design,
the book depicts the horror of war and the heartbreak of separation as two people,
joined as one, grow and change as individuals during the separation of the war years."
